Why choose Dodo for NBN plans?

Dodo is one of Australia's best known internet providers and is famous for low-cost, no-frills internet deals. And unlike many other internet providers, Dodo offers plans for people who don't use the internet very often., not just for heavy downloaders and internet lovers.

Dodo also offer a range of optional extras, but gives customers the choice of what is most important to them. You can enjoy the freedom of a no-contract plan and pay a bit more, or save money and sign a contract.

If you're looking for entertainment, Dodo is also one of the few providers offering Fetch TV bundles with internet plans. With Fetch TV you can stream movies and TV from a number of popular services, like Netflix, plus subscribe to channel packs, similar to Foxtel.

Types of Dodo NBN plans

When you connect to a Dodo internet plan, there are a few choices to make.

How types of connection do you need?
Do you need a new NBN-ready modem?

Dodo can provide all of these services, and its website makes it easy to toggle these different options in a plan you are building for yourself.

With NBN plans, one difference with Dodo is that it doesn't sell plans configured on the fastest available speed: NBN 100. Customers can choose between NBN 12, NBN 25 and NBN 50 speeds, but only after they are connected and Dodo has had a chance to test the line speed to be sure it can sell you the plan you want.

How to switch to Dodo NBN

To find out if you're eligible for an Dodo NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If Dodo is listed in the search results, congratulations: you're able to make the switch.

Once you've picked the plan that works best for you and your family, you can place an order directly with Dodo either by phone or online. Dodo will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring any current broadband plan you may have over to their own NBN service.

Dodo can provide you with an NBN-ready modem, although you're free to bring your own compatible modem to any of the three plans. Customers purchasing a new modem from Dodo will need to pay $109, but keep in mind that it comes fully pre-configured, unlocked, and ready to connect, and offers fast speeds and and an extended signal reach.

Another important thing to note: while installation is free for most customers, if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN.

How fast are Dodo NBN plans?

Currently, the top speed for Dodo NBN plans is 50 Mbps. This is slower than the maximum speed of the NBN (100 Mbps) but because of technical limitations, this is a more realistic maximum speed for most homes.

You can also choose plans at speeds of 12 Mbps and 25 Mbps.

What are my data options?

Dodo NBN plans come in a range of sizes. Light internet uses can opt for a plan including either 10GB or 50GB per month. While internet lovers have the option to included unlimited data in their selection.

It is important to understand how much data you need before making this decision. 10GB and 50GB data limits will not be sufficient for most households. If anyone in your home watches streaming video like Netflix or YouTube, you should consider the Unlimited data plan.

Do I need to buy a new modem to sign up to Dodo?

If you already have an NBN-ready modem, you can use it with any Dodo broadband plan. However, Dodo does offer pre-configured, ready-to-use modems.

What happens if I want to cancel my Dodo NBN plan?

This depends on which contract term you selected when signing up. Obviously if you chose the 1-month contract term than there is no penalty for cancelling your plan.

If you chose a 12- or 24-month plan option Dodo will charge you $8 for each month remaining on the contract.
