Why amaysim NBN?

While amaysim has built a reputation as a go-to mobile plan provider, the company also offers highly competitive broadband plans for NBN users. In addition to great monthly pricing, amaysim's NBN plans also feature no lock-in contracts, plus free standard activation.

Since amaysim doesn't require customers to sign on for more than one month at a time, you're free to switch providers whenever you like. This makes amaysim a safe telco to try out if you're new to the NBN and don't want to commit to anyone for a longer contract. Especially because setup is free (unless you need a new modem).  

Types of amaysim NBN plans

amaysim broadband customers can pick from three speed options: 

• Basic (also known as Basic Evening Speed or NBN 12), 
• Standard (or Standard Evening Speed or NBN 25), 
• Premium (or Premium Evening Speed or NBN 100). 

All amaysim NBN plans include unlimited monthly data, so the only decision you need to make is how fast you'd like your plan to be.

We've compiled a longer explanation of each speed here, but if your household includes two or more people, you're likely to spend a lot of time streaming, downloading or gaming, or you live in a busy inner city area, you'll probably benefit from a faster plan.

amaysim doesn't list specific speeds for each plan on its website. However, as a general rule, you can expect between 7Mbps and 11Mbps on a Basic plan, 15Mbps to 22Mbps on Standard speeds, and from 60Mbps to 90Mbps on Premium, although this will variety due to location, time, and network congestion.

How to switch to amaysim NBN

To find out if you're eligible for an amaysim NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If amaysim is listed in the search results, congratulations: you're able to make the switch.

Once you've picked the plan that works best for you and your family, you can place an order directly with amaysim either by phone or online. amaysim will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring any current broadband plan you may have over to their own NBN service. 

amaysim can provide you with an NBN-ready modem, although you're free to bring your own compatible modem to any of the three plans. Customers purchasing a new modem from amaysim will need to pay $109, but keep in mind that it comes fully pre-configured, unlocked, and ready to connect, and offers fast speeds and and an extended signal reach. 

Another important thing to note: while installation is free for most customers, if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN.

How fast are amaysim's NBN plans?

amaysim offers three NBN speed options: Basic (up to 12Mbps), Standard (up to 25Mbps), and Premium (up to 100Mbps). The higher the Mbps, the faster your connection will be. More information on NBN speeds is available here. 

What are my data options?

All of amaysim's NBN plans are unlimited, so you'll never have to worry about exceeding your plan allowance and paying extra (or suffering cut-off or slowed service). 

Do I need to buy a new modem to sign up to amaysim?

If you already have an NBN-ready modem, you can use it with any amaysim broadband plan. However, amaysim does offer pre-configured, ready-to-use modems for $109. 

Can I keep my home phone number on amaysim NBN?

amaysim NBN plans are data only and amaysim does not offer home phone lines or VoIP plans. amaysim won't guarantee that your home phone will continue working after you connect to one of its NBN plans. If having a landline is important to you, or you rely on your home phone for services such as alarms, you should contact your phone provider to discuss your options before considering amaysim as a NBN provider.

What happens if I want to cancel my amaysim NBN plan?

As all of amaysim's NBN plans are contract-free, you'll free to cancel or change plans every month. However, if you do cancel just after making a monthly payment, you won't receive a refund for the following month's plan cost.
